OOC: ((Note to readers- Dane's wife will be NPC'd in Dane's posts))
Both of his sons were off and away from home, leaving Dane and his wife alone. However, since neither him nor his wife had wanted to stay cooped up at home, they thought it would be fair if they temporarily closed the gym to go travel around a bit until their eldest son, Laus, came home. It was only fair that Dane and Hikari got to leave home as well. So, they had previously made plans with Elayne, Goldenrod's gym leader, to meet up with her and visit. Currently the sun was still setting, and around the time that Elayne would probably be home. It was also nice to talk with a family friend without having to worry about being gym leaders.
It was only a short walk from the hotel the two were staying in, and eventually, Dane and Hikari got to the door of Elayne's home. Letting out a short grunt, Dane rang the doorbell, and folded his arms. He was wearing the usual that he went out in. Just a simple, short sleeved, red shirt, and a black pair of jeans, with a pair of combat boots he wore on his feet. Next to him, his wife Hikari, was obviously short than him, about five feet and six inches tall. She had an average stature, with brown hair and green eyes like her youngest son, Tomonari. Her hair was up in a bun, and she wore thin, black frammed glasses. She wore a gray, long sleeved shirt, and a gray skirt that reached a little lower than her knees.
"Elayne's kids are going to freak probably when they see visitors. Hell, maybe I should trick Deena and tell her Laus is here.", Dane chuckled as they waited. He had to admit, his Primeape and sons' mischievious natures rubbed off on him a little. Hikari sighed and lightly punched Dane in the side, replying, "Oh don't be rude! Besides, don't you remember that Deena went off to train pokemon a while ago?" Chuckling again, Dane said, "I know, I know. I nearly forgot that she was anyways. Ah well, it'll be a nice visit, I'm sure." Hikari sighed a little again, but giggled a little as well. But she knew one thing, and that was she married the right man.

"Mommy Gina's being mean to me! She keeps saying she's gonna trick Gya into eating me!" Saphire said, crying slightly as she ran into the kitchen. Elayne sighed and patted her youngest daughter's head as the teenager ran in.
"I did not, she's making it up!" Gina said, walking in after her with her arms crossed. Unless Deena was around the pair rarely got along. Or their father, when she thought about it. She supposed the studious ones were the more dominant ones in the house.
"Alright, alright girls, calm down. Dane and his wife are coming over any minute. Sam, you go to your room and get ready..."
"My name is Saphire!" the blue eyed girl said, wiping the tears from her eyes.
"Alright, 'Saphire,' go get ready. Gina, set the table please." The pair nodded, although Gina let out a small groan. She missed her older sister because she used to do more of the chores around the house. She turned her eyes to her Vaporeon, which was sitting patiently next to the table. "Can you go sit by the window and tell me when they're coming?"
The pokemon nodded and padded off toward the window, being careful not to disturb her daughter sleeping on the couch. She continued making dinner until the Vaporeon wandered back in and tapped her foot with her tail. Elayne nodded and handed the Vaporeon some pokemon food. "Thank you dear. Go get Sam, then go get some rest, okay?"
She nodded again and padded off as Elayne walked to the door, waiting glancing in the mirror until the doorbell rang. She walked over and opened it up, glancing up at the large man in front of her and the much more her height wife. "Welcome Dane, Hikari."

Dane and Hikari put their attention to Elayne as the woman opened up the door. A small nod came from Dane as he replied, "Hello, Elayne. It's good to see you again." The much more Elayne's height Hikari smiled and said, "Good to see you Elayne. I think it's been a while, hasn't it?" Politely, Hikari went in through the door first, and then turned to face Elayne, but stayed towards the wall opposite the Goldenrod gym leader. Dane went through the door next, and it was a wonder how a man his size managed to go through it. But of course, it wouldn't be a problem as Dane could go through doors without busting anything down. There was no need to, and it was doubtful that anyone in his or her lifetimes would see Dane that angry.
In any case, the man stayed out of Elayne's way, and faced the woman as well. "So, how have the kids been these days?", he asked to spark some conversation. Being a gym leader did not mean that he circled his life around that entirely. Dane was still a human being, and capable of acting like one. He gave a quick glance at his wife, and then turned his head to look around a bit. Maybe Elayne's husband would be here, as Dane figured the wives would want to talk to each other, rather than their husbands.
Hikari gave a glace as well, though to the house itself. She was wondering if Elayne's Vaporeon was around, though wasn't going to bother the woman about it. She wanted to see that elegant pokemon again, as Hikari never was lucky enough to see an Eevee evolution often on her travels before she met Dane.

Elayne moved out of the way to give her large friend a way through. "Afraid Thomas got called off to Kanto for the week. Dinner will be done in a few minutes, I think Gina's in the living room. You're welcome to join her Dane, just make sure that you wake Eevee up before you sit down." She had a feeling that Eevee and Vaporeon would probably be the only ones that would come out.
Vaporeon was rather social, and Eevee was definatly social. Her other pokemon weren't so much. Her shiny Eevee was asleep in her bedroom, and Clefairy was probably hiding in someone's room. The other's were at the gym. Although, Peliper might have been on the roof. He had a nest there, she thought anyway.
Sam came out of her room in a light blue shirt with a Shinx on it, with light blue jeans too. She idolized her older sister, but liked blue more than white. She was trying to convince her mother to let her dye her brown hair blue. Something that her mother was Adamently against. Especially since she was only nine. Vaporeon followed her a few moments later, sitting down next to where Emerald was standing.
"Hullo Dane," said the small girl, looking up at the mountain in front of her. Elayne patted her head.
"Go wait with your sister in the living room until dinner's ready dear. You're welcome to join them Dane, Hikari," she said, moving back toward the kitchen. She heard a timer going off. It was probably the ramen. She wasn't a great cook, but it didn't take a lot to make the noodles taste good. She had a nice dessert to go with it too, along with tea.

So Thomas wasn't there for Dane to talk to. It didn't matter so much to him, as even with his short temper, he didn't let little things like that get to him. He simply nodded in response, and then noticed Sam coming to see them. A small chuckle came from the middle-aged man, and Dane replied to the girl, "Good to see ya, Sam." Despite his deep voice, there was a tone of gentleness in it. He wasn't one to use his status, or size, to his advantage for his own personal gain. After that, he went to the living room as Elayne suggested.
Hikari smiled warmly when Gina had come. Like her husband, she didn't mind that these children called her by her first name, as rude as it might have been. She watched as her husband went to the living room, but did the opposite. The woman politely followed Elayne, and asked her, "Are you sure you don't need any help, Elayne? I don't mind giving you some help at all." Even though Dane and her were the guests, Hikari wasn't too fond of letting their dear friend Elayne do all of the work.

Gina cracked her back and watched the television. Wasn't anything very interesting for the moment, just something about an upcoming pokemon contest. The contest itself didn't start for another half hour so it was just showing the trainers that had already entered. Didn't look to be a Johto contest. Hoenn or Sinnoh probably.
She glanced around back of her chair and watched Sam run in and jump on the couch, causing her mom's Eevee to jump 3 feet in the air and run behind the television. She rolled her eyes. When she got her pokemon, she was going to get something more like her mom's Tauros. Maybe a Nidoking or a Crobat.
Saphire looked over to Eevee, "Oops, sorry Veevee," she said, and snapped her fingers. The Eevee ran over and currled up in her lap, enjoying the petting that Saph immediatly started giving it.
"I'm fine Hikari. It'll be done in a few minutes. I made sure to make plenty. My husband rarely eats much more than a few bites. One of the things Deena unfortunatly inherited. Although, sometimes I think Samantha inherited Gyarados' appetite." She'd once seen her daughter eat an entire pot of ramen, and ask for more.

Once he got to the living room, Dane simply stood there, not really in the mood to sit. He was used to standing and being active all day, and he figured it wouldn't be that long until dinner was served. He simply folded his arms over his chest, and occasionally glanced over at the TV. A small smile came on his face as Saphire talked to the normal Eevee. Seemed like things hadn't really changed, and it troubled him a little when he began to think of his own two kids. Elayne had a while to go with Gina and Saphire, since the two were still young. Dane's eldest son Laus was eighteen, and soon the boy would be moving out of the house, or Dane thought so at least. Tomonari was fifteen, but had recently gone out to become a trainer. In all honesty, Dane was a little shocked when Tomonari told Hikari and him this, due to the boy's timidness.
Hikari listened in to what Elayne had told her, and made sure to stay out of the woman's way. She giggled a little as she mentioned the part about Samantha's eating habits. "If you think that's bad, try living with two teenage boys and my husband. I sware, I'm surprised we even have a full refrigerator at home!", Hikari joked in response. What would she ever do without her family? Despite those streetfights that caused problems with Laus, Hikari loved her family dearly. In any case, Hikari continued, "So, have you heard from Deena lately? I'm sure she would have at least checked in with you and Thomas." It was just a habit of Hikari's to care for others, and she was extremely gentle about it.

Gina glanced back and spotted Dane enter the room. Now he was a gym leader. Fighting pokemon were so much better than normal pokemon... at least the ones her mom picked. Taurus was rather threatening, but who was scared of an Eevee, or a clefairy? But a Machamp or a Hitmonlee, those were plenty intimidating. Not a Hitmonchan. Who was afraid of a boy in boxing gloves and a skirt.
"Hi Dane," she said, flipping the channel. She'd read in some magazine that there was a televised gym battle somewhere. It was from a while ago.... Someone named Jasmine against some girl, Amy or something like that. "You know who these guys are?" she asked. Saph hummed contentedly on the couch petting Eevee.
"Doesn't surprise me with your husband. I just don't know where she puts it all. Gina I could understand, most of the day she practices with Tauros, being a bull-rider or something like that. But the little one doesn't do much, although she watches me a lot. She could probably run the gym for me if I let her," she said with a chuckle.
It was probably true, Samantha had watched all her gym matches, and knew all the moves of all her pokemon. "Oh, she's fine. She dropped by a couple of weeks ago with her new Shuppet. Asked if I knew where there were psychic pokemon so she could beat your husband. How're your sons? It's been a while since I've seen them, last Kid's Day, I think when the Gym Leaders were in Blackthorne for the demonstration on television."

The middle-aged man looked over at Gina when she spoke to him, "Ah, hello Gina." He knew that the girl was hot-headed, and that was probably something that would never change. Perhaps though that girl specifically should learn a bit more respect, especially when it came to pokemon. Dane looked over at the TV screen when Gina asked who the battlers were. He unfolded his arms, and walked a little closer to the TV, standing behind Saphire's side of the couch. His black eye kept his left eye from seeing clearly, and it took Dane a few seconds to figure out who was who. "This is an old match, that's for sure. I know that girl with the Steelix is Jasmine, the old Olivine gym leader. Honestly, I don't know why she left the gym. Seemed like she was doing a fine job. Her challenger there, I don't know who that is.", Dane replied honestly. He stood there watching the match, and also making sure nothing happened. The man knew from some experience that some people weren't exactly friendly with gym leaders.
Hikari chuckled a little as well at Elayne's comment. She listened to the rest of what the woman had to say, and nodded politely. "I guess Samantha has the right stuff already in case you need a new leader!", the older woman chuckled in return. It was a little sad seeing their children grow up, but that was something which couldn't be helped. Focusing her attention on the coversation, Hikari said, "Oh Deena was always a thinker, wasn't she? Anyways, both of my sons have been alright. Tomonari recently started becoming a pokemon trainer. When he asked Dane and I to start, both of us were a little surprised, since you know how timid Tom can be. Laus rented a car and drove him to New Bark Town." Speaking of Laus, he hadn't checked in recently, but both Dane and Hikari would know if something happened.
"With Laus, he's been the same as usual. He hasn't done anything that would get him in major trouble. Still, Dane and I are both still worried over that whole deal with Laus getting into fights on the street. He hasn't been in a fight since we found out a couple years ago, but I worry sometimes.", Hikari continued with a sigh.

Elayne nodded. "She is.... There's a lot of her father in her. Although, she used to sneak out and go to the gym when Whitney ran it. That is, before I took over. I used to do that when I was a kid." The tea whistled and she turned off the oven. All done.
She picked up the pot and brought it over to the kitchen table, Vaporeon following behind her. It did that to her often. If she was allowed, she'd use it in gym battles. Granted, it was powerful, and she'd probably have to do a one on three battle for it to be fair. "Dinner's ready you three! And is that last fight including the time that Deena had Spinda chase after him using uproar?"
Gina watched the television, nodding. Steelix was a cool pokemon.... Not like her sister's choice in pokemon. Her mom at least had Gyarados and Tentacruel. What did her sister have? A little sock puppet, a walking teddy bear, and a floating tool box. She didn't see what was so great about them.
The girls got up at their mother's call, Saph carrying the eevee on her shoulder as she did. She walked over to Dane first though and grabbed his hand, attempting to pull him with her. "Come on Mr. Dane, dinner's ready!" she said.

Like her friend, Hikari had a habit of nodding in response. She did so as she listened to the woman. Hikari began to think back to when Tomonari and Laus were just kids. They would just go into the gym with their father and watch some of the matches that occurred, as well as training in general. But it usually was Laus being more interested, and Tomonari shying behind Dane's mountainous stature. Hikari never had that chance, as she was a photographer by nature. But still, she took some darned good shots of pokemon! Perhaps she should have brought some pictures over to show Elayne.
She couldn't help but laugh though at Elayne's response. "No, it wasn't that, but good thing you brought that up. I could ground Laus for life for being the pervert he is, but it's all about karma. Even though he never gets it through that thick head of his. Just as stubborn as Dane, I tell you.", Hikari responded. She followed Elayne over to the dinner table, and waited for the other three before sitting down.
Dane had heard the woman's call, and got out of the two girls. He looked down at Saphire as she tugged on his hand, and the man smiled. "Alright, alright I'm coming!", Dane chuckled. He then followed her to the dining table.

Elayne poured the soup into bowls, a pair of particularly large ones for Samantha and Dane, and regular sized ones for the rest of them. She chuckled at the thought of all the things that their kids had done over the years. "After all the things Deena's done to him over the years, if he hasn't given it up yet I doubt he will. Although last time she requested if she could... borrow Gyarados." She'd rejected of course... didn't want her to kill the boy.
Gina took her usual seat at the table next to her mother's spot, picking up her chop sticks and going after the ramen, but with a quick glare from her moher she put them down and sighed. She wanted to get back in the living room... the contest was starting soon. She attempted to blow her long red hair, something she'd inheritted from her father's family, out of the way of her face. Eventually she sighed and put it back in a long ponytail.
Saph gave up trying to pull the large man faster, and ran into the room and sat in front of the large bowl, licking her lips. "Vee!" came the sound on her shoulder. "Oh! Sorry Veevee, forgot you were there..." she said, putting the Eevee on the ground so it could go over and eat the pokemon food with its mother. Clefairy probably wouldn't come out until the guests left.
Despite having met the group before, the small pokemon was still extremely shy. She'd only 'come out of her shell' so to speak, in battles. "Dig in everyone. Oh, Dane, do you mind helping me put Tauros in his place after dinner? He hasn't lost in a while and it's going to his head. He's started tearing through the gym like he owns it again. I'd use Gyarados or Pelipper for it, but I think one of your fighting pokemon would be better," she said.
Gina kept her comments to herself, but didn't see what the problem was. Tauros was her favourite of her mom's pokemon, mostly because it was the most agressive. She wanted her mom to give it to her when she was ready to go. It already listened to her....

"Ah that's true, Elayne. Though if she did ask to borrow Gyarados, it might be going to her head a little too much.", Hikari chuckled in response. That was the good thing about the eldest children not being there, so no problems could occur. A dead child wouldn't exactly fare too well from both sides. Hopefully, Laus was doing anything with her Drowzee, otherwise Hikari wouldn't be too happy, and she was more fierce than Dane when angered. She sat down next to Dane when the man came into the dining room.
It was still amazing how Dane managed to fit onto a chair and not break it, but he wasn't that massive. He glanced over at his wife, who seemed to have had a delightful conversation with Elayne. Must have been about Deena abusing Laus. Oh if he ever had a chance to lay a hand on that boy, it wouldn't be pretty. Still, the man left the kids' little fights alone, as he always got a kick out of them.
Looking up at Elayne, Dane responsded, "Oh that's not a problem at all. That old bull needs to calm down some." He could relate to Tauros though, as he had just as bad a temper as the pokemon. Dane had problems keeping Machoke's ego under control, and he usually had to resort to keeping him in his pokeball.

When everyone was at the table, Saph immediatly went after the ramen, the small 9 year old downing most of the large bowl (which took her both hands to lift) in a matter of a few moments. Elayne sighed. She had no clue where she put it all, or where she got it from. She idolized Deena, but at least she didn't have her eating habits. Which wasn't necessarily the best thing.... She didn't know though.
"Thank you Dane. He isn't usually this difficult, but his ego is getting in the way of training. He attempted to break the glass in the gym the other day. I've resorted to keeping him in his pokeball for the moment. We'll head down to the basement and deal with it." When they'd moved in Elayne had been delighted to find they had a large basement, fit for pokemon battling. Nothing like Fissure of course.
She also knew that Tauros was no match for any of Dane's pokemon. While she used to be the 8th gym leader of Hoenn, it was with her water Pokemon. Now, Tauros was only level 17 and had a type disadvantage. It would put down his ego for a bit. "I suppose it's paying me back. Who was it that you had me do the same thing with? I think Pelipper or Tentacruel helped take care of the problem."
Gina sighed and ate her food calmly. She felt like Diamond for a moment without saying anything. She liked teasing her older sister about her hair, but she'd ignored her. It annoyed her a bit, she didn't like being ignored. Which was why she liked their younger son. "Did you bring any of your photos Hikari? I liked the one of that Red Lapras."

Both Dane and Hikari began to eat, though not as fast as Saphire was. Though he was a large man, Dane wasn't a big brute. From his family, it was usually Laus that would devour his food in a matter of seconds, and then ask for more. That was perhaps where Primeape got his eating habits from. At least his eldest son was half decent, though Dane still doesn't know how the boy became the way he is now, as well as why Tomonari was so timid.
Listening in on Elayne's words, Dane nodded and wiped his mouth and beard off with his napkin. That was the problem with having a beard, food gets stuck to it. He knew fully well that if Elayne was still Hoen's eighth gym leader, Dane would lose in no time flat. "It was my Machoke that you helped me settle down using Pelipper. He never seems to stop harrassing everyone with his ego. Ah well, I probably won't use him to calm Tauros down.", the man replied to Elayne. Damned Machoke was the worst out of all his pokemon, which was why Dane was worried whenever he brought his kids into the gym. But luckily, he had Hariyama to help look after Laus and Tomonari when the two were kids.
Hikari had turned her attention to Gina when the girl asked about pokemon pictures. Sighing, the woman replied, "Sorry Gina, I forgot to bring some today. It just blew my mind before Dane and I left home." Speaking of pictures, it had been a while since Hikari had taken out her old camera and take a few shots of wild pokemon.
