"Yeah, I got it," Magma said over his cell phone. "Okay mom, love you too. Bye." He hung up and put the phone back in his pocket. He looked down at the ball on his waist. He had finally gotten his Cyndaquil. He smiled widely as he stared at it. He looked up at the road ahead of him and took a deep breath.
"This is it," he said to himself. "The moment of truth. The start of my adventure." The road ahead looked very smooth. Not something he'd expect from a dirt road. It looked as smooth as newly placed concrete. He figured it was because so many people started before him. Smiling again, he started walking forward. There was no turning back now. It was now or never.
After walking a few steps, he took off in a run. He ran down the road and up a hill. He felt the cool breeze of the wind brush past his face as he ran faster and faster. It was finally his turn to prove that he was just as good as anyone else. It was his turn to be a Pokemon Master. "Bring it on," he said as he started down the hill at the next town.

Roma blinked as he heard someone coming down the road and turned to look at where the noise was coming from. Secretly he hoped it was a pretty young trainer girl. That would be fun... he grinned to himself. Noticing a red head coming towards him his head tilted. Well that was that.
Just a boy.
Another boy who wanted to be a pokemon master no doubt. Roma had to chuckle at the thought. Kids today... they had to be the very best. What was so appealing about being a master anyway? Sure you get money and chicks... but to have paparazzi and weirdos stalk you... naaah. He was fine being as he was. Just good old Roma.
Roma turned back to the road ahead of him. He'd stopped in New Bark to pick up some supplies. He was headed back north, but he wasn't going as the crow flies. He was perfectly find taking a few detours. It was fun to just travel about. No cares. No strings. No worries.
He whistled to himself as he pulled his bag up to a more comfortable position on his shoulders.

Walking down the road some more, something caught a glimpse in the corner of Magma's eye. He turned to where it was a saw a guy also walking the path. He stopped and stared at him. Should I battle? he asked himself. He didn't know if the guy was even a trainer. And if he was, what if he was much stronger.
Shaking his head, he continued to walk down the path. He knew sooner or later, he'd run into the dude. Whether he was a trainer or not would have to rest on the his decision. If he wants to battle, he'll call it. If not, then just keep walking. That was Magma's motive.
A few more steps forward and Magma realized that he would run into him. So a nice intro wouldn't be so bad. "Hello," he said.

Roma waved and called out to the kid.
"Heading to Violet City?" He asked as he pulled his back over his shoulder again. He figured if they were both heading the same way and the kid wasn't snobby or a pain in the butt, he could travel with him.
"Looks like you just started out. Your shirt and pants aren't faded and ripped yet." He grinned a little.
"I've been going for a little over a year now. But I'm not really a hard up wanna be a master type. Just a gypsy." He continued to make friendly easy conversation.
"So what are you going to do now that you've got freedom to do what you want?"

"Yeah, I'm going to Violet City," Magma answered. "That's the first stop on my journey." The man made a comment on his clothing being not worn out, but Magma didn't hear it really. Or maybe he just ignored it. Either way, he didn't reply to it.
He mentioned being a trainer for a year and Magma turned to him, letting a grin show on his face. Wow, a veteran, he thought. I could learn a lot from him.
"So what are you going to do now that you've got freedom to do what you want?" came the final question. Magma smirked and replied, "Just go around and have fun. Like the saying goes, 'What you see is what you get', and I plan to see it all. Cause I'm just a guy who loves adventure."

"Ahhh a man after my own heart." Roma grinned.
"So you're a gypsy as well. Cool. Cool." He nodded, his violet eyes skimming the horizon. "You got a girlfriend or you cut the ties to go on this journey?" He asked it so breezily it was like asking the weather.
"I got no ties myself. But I have an eye for the female species."
He pulled out his wallet and opened it. "I've still got a little savings from my last job. I'll treat you to dinner. It's always nice to have a traveling companion to talk to.'Specially cuz we seem sorta like minded on what the word 'journey' means. Well... mostly." He jestured to his belt. "No badges and not a lot of pokemon, but I get around. I've been all over the area."
His stride was calm and yet jovial. He was in a good mood so he swung his arms a bit, awaiting the answer. He was a bit forward and a bit blunt, but he meant no harm. He was just being his natural self.
