17 Years
Gender:
Female
Pokemon:
016 - Pidgey - "Pidge"
HOSTILE;; Pidgey doesn't quite trust anyone but Tyne. He's incredibly Hostile toward everything, though he wont act unless he feels threatened. He always seems ruffled, his brow constantly furrowed as if scowling. It's because of this hostility that Tyne avoids having him out around other people, for fear of what would happen around a crowd, even though she knows him harmless.[/ul]

History:
[/color]Tyne was born on the coldest night that Snowpoint City had seen in twenty years. It was snowing, as usual, but with a much larger intensity. And after hours and hours of labor on her mother's part, Tyne was born. Born into a small family, with just a mother, a father, and a slightly older brother.
It was from the moment that Tyne was secured inside her crib that her older brother, Naim, two years her senior, began to watch over her. Naim had been born two years before, in the summer. He was diagnosed mute, and was forced to go through homeschooling. So it was obvious the boy was lonely. That was when the couple decided it was best for them to have another child. And when Tyne came home, the boy was ecstatic. He wanted everything to do with this new creature that resided in the room next door to his, and it wasn't unusual for his parents to wake up in the morning, to find that the boy had stripped his bed of it's sheets, only to drag them into the infant's room, where he would guard her sleep.
Regardless, the Nalani family lived a relatively quiet life through Tyne's infancy, she rarely cried due to Naim's constant presence at her side. She was even present during the two year old's sign language lessons, sitting peacefully in the playpen as Naim intelligently performed the hand signals. The quicker he went, the more attention he'd get to pay attention to the other child.
Childhood
The closeness in this relationship continued well into the children's' childhoods, Naim continued to be home schooled, and when Tyne was old enough, she too sat in on lessons, quickly picking up on the gestures needed to communicate with her brother. This silent bond grew stronger as the two children did, and eventually they added specific gestures to become a sort of 'Secret' communication between them.
Naim became the leader of the pair. Everywhere he went, his little sister was close on his heels. By the age of six, Tyne was blossoming into a beautiful child, and together, Naim and Tyne seemed to be the perfect children. Of course, those who didn't know the family personally did not know of Naim's disability. But why should that matter? It obviously didn't bother the Nalani family.
It was around this age that Naim and Tyne became fascinated with Pokemon. Of course, the only Pokemon the two seemed to ever see were those native to the icy region, but regardless, the two would attend every challenge to the gym that they could manage. The endless types and breed of Pokemon captivated Naim. He would converse with Tyne for hours about them, his excitement clearly knew no bounds. Tyne was also interested, but not as much as the boy. He favored the ground types, and how strong they were, dealing blow after blow. It was obvious that as Naim grew, so did his energy.
On Tyne's eighth birthday, the two children were coming back from a battle they'd watched, Naim's gift to his little sister. It had gotten unexpectedly late, and being that it was hard enough to see through all of the freshly fallen slow, Tyne lost her footing. And as luck would have it, as she hit the ground, the ground beneath her gave way, sending the child down the steep snow bank.
Naim was unable to call for help when he got to the girl, who'd been knocked out. Torn between leaving her for help, the young boy chose to stay beside her. A mistake that would cost poor Naim his life.
It was hours later when Tyne's parents became worried, and had begun to search for their children. When they finally found them, both were unconscious, Naim holding the injured form of his sister close.
The time in the hospital was vague to Tyne, she only clearly remembers the tear stricken faces of her mother and father, and the panic that rose inside her when Naim was no where to be seen. There was nothing but an empty, freshly made bed on the opposite side of the room. Nothing could have prepared Tyne's parents, nor the hotel staff for the screaming and cries that filled the eastern ward when eight year old Tyne learned that her brother was dead.
Happy Birthday, indeed.
Preteens
For two years, the Nalani family lived in silent misery, carrying out with their lives. But no matter how hard it was to ignore the void growing between the three of them, they managed. Rather, Tyne and her father managed. Tyne's mother, Rena, slowly slipped into a state of depression. Soon after this, she began to become ill frequently, losing her job due to absences. Because of this, Tyne was forced to resume homeschooling on her own, all the while taking care of her mother. At the age of eleven, it wasn't easy for Tyne to do such a thing, and it certainly was a great deal of stress to her.
Three months after her mother became isolated to her bed, Tyne's father left. He claimed he was out looking for work. At first, Tyne didn't believe it. She was convinced he'd abandoned them, and he wasn't coming back. But a few months after his disappearance, he began mailing them checks, enough money for the preteen to properly care for her ill mother.
Teenage Years
Tyne's father never really did return to Snowpoint City. The checks never stopped coming, however. About a month after Tyne turned 15, the girl picked up a job at the local pokemart, something to get her out of the house, and also to have an income for her own wants.
Tyne wanted nothing more than to travel, and catch Pokemon. They were just as interesting to her now as they had been all those years ago. She wanted to challenge other trainers as she and Naim had talked about doing when they were small. So secretly, Tyne began to slowly save money for this desired trip, in a foolish hope that her mother would recover soon. After all, it had been almost seven years since this depression set it. Surely it had to end sometime?
But it continued for another long year, until, finally, one night, Tyne came home to find her mother in the kitchen, cooking. Tyne was stunned, unsure of how to react. Her mother had turned to her with a tired expression, and explained. She was guilty of how she'd neglected Tyne for all of these years, claiming to have forgotten that she still had to be a mother for Tyne.
Now sixteen, Tyne was aware of the other soon-to-be-trainers leaving Snowpoint to meet up with Professors who reserved Pokemon for them in other cities. Regardless of how anxious the girl was to escape this cage, she was hesitant to leave her mother, the place where she'd grown up, as well as the memory of her brother. But that was the whole point of this journey. To continue on, in his memory.
After much discussion, a trip to the Kanto region to visit her father and a rather rushed seventeenth birthday, Tyne exited the boat that dropped her off in the Johto region. She'd been given her first Pokemon, Pidgey, while she was visiting her father, and the two had spent most of their journey across the sea bonding.
By bonding, I mean Pidgey comforting a seriously sea sick Tyne.

Roleplay Example:
"Sweet merciful-" A set of pearly white teeth snagged the lower lip of Tyne's mouth, her hands desperately grasping the bars in front of her- the railing of the boat. Her stomach protested against the rocking motions of the large ship, her complexion quite pale and tired looking. Her eyes fluttered shut, an clear sign that she was focused on keeping her stomach's contents where they were, rather than in the surf. Her pale blond locks were tied in a low ponytail, her bangs whipping about her face, thanks to the wind. Her hot forehead pressed the bars just above her fists, her entire body in a sort of squat. It was almost as if she were holding onto the bars for dear life.
Above her head, there was a soft 'coo', and she barely recognized it above the crashing of the water as it was brutally torn through by the incredible steel of the boat. She swallowed, opening her eyes slowly as she lifted her chin to look up at the Pokemon that sat perched on the railing, his talons wrapped firmly around the cylinder surface. His coal gaze stared the weakened girl down, as if inquiring if she was alright. Parting her lips, Tyne sucked in a great breath of salted air, before letting her head drop again. She was amazed that she hadn't been sick yet.
"Pidge-" She didn't quite have the energy to look up for his annoyed reaction, "Remind me to never do this again." She mumbled, and the bird Pokemon ruffled it's tanned feathers, before turning it's head back to the horizon, and away from it's sick trainer.
