Cyprus got off the tram in a hurry when they opened the doors after announcing the arrival in Cherrygrove.
She nearly leaned down and kissed the ground. It was a miracle. She'd survived. She wasn't sure how... but she had.
Standing on the platform and watching the tram leave again she felt her stomach flip and had to run to the bathroom. Just watching the thing made her motion sick... the only reason she hadn't gotten sick on the tram was she'd closed her eyes when she started feeling queasy. That had helped. You couldn't feel the movement so much as you could see it.
She stepped out and into daylight, feeling better. She noticed this city was not nearly so cramped as Goldenrod and it made her feel more at ease.
Looking at the small map in the back of the trainer's guide, she determined that the guide was only good for basic information, as there were no city maps in it. She stuffed it in her pocket and walked down the road, trying to forget the horrible tram experience.
She decided the best thing to do now would be to set up a sort of base of opperations. The trainer's guidebook had said Pokemon Centers, where they cared for pokemon, were good places for trainers to stay when they had no other option. Noting that she had no tent or real sleeping bag... it did seem a better option while she got her bearings. She wasn't even sure what kind of pokemon were normal around here...
She managed to reach the center without much problem. This city was much easier to navigate and didn't have such crowds as the last one did.
A Nurse Joy welcomed Cyprus and she smiled. "Do your Pokemon need healing?" Cyprus shook her head, explaining she'd ridden the tram from Goldenrod and the Nurse nodded, saying to let her know if Cyprus needed anything else.
Cyprus released Vulpix again, starting to get used to the pokeball system, which was the only reason she kept Cinder in the ball.
"I have to learn to like it to a point... for now." She'd admitted to herself, not seeing anyway around the fact that she'd have to use it if she wanted to complete her goals.
Sitting in the Pokemon Center with Cinder, Cyprus decided to bide her time for a little while and see if she couldn't listen in on any good conversations.
As of right now she didn't have a definate attack strategy. Cy decided it was best to be alert.
...Besides... it was interesting watching these kids and people playing with their cellphones and Poke-dexes... she'd never seen anything like them and was curious...
What was a "Phone Number?" ... How did the cellphone know where you were? ... How did such a small device make so much noise?
She found herself lost in thought and staring at kids as they'd come in.
Cyprus was truly on the other side of the rainbow...

Well his journey hasn't started off too bad it seems. Tomonari had both of his pokemon in their respective pokeballs, as from what he remembered, that was usually how the pokemon center accepted them in. This was his first stop of course, and had arrived around midday. It took the teenager a while to find the pokemon center, as he was somewhat naive with these things still. Making a quick sigh, Tomonari found the pokemon center, and stood for a moment in front of the sliding doors. These automatic doors slid open, and Tomonari walked inside the pokemon center.
Once he did so, he walked up to the front desk, and requested to Nurse Joy to have his pokemon healed. Tomonari set down his pokeballs on the counter, and were taken by the nurse to be healed. After a few short seconds, the pokeballs were returned to him, with both Iris and Dante all healed up inside them. Most likey, Tomonari's Mareep would have a fit if the pokeball ended up messing her coat up. Tomonari let out a worried sigh, as he wasn't entirely sure that he was cut out for this. Shrugging to himself, he looked around, and saw the phones that he could use. He did have a cellphone, but Tomonari felt more comfortable actually seeing his parents through the screen while talking.
Tomonari ended up walking towards the girl and her Vulpix while reaching the phones, but knowing him, the teenager ended up tripping over his own foot, "Ow!" He landed right in front of the girl and Vulpix, face flat on the ground. Right as he landed, Dante ended up coming out of his pokeball on his own, and the Hoothoot looked at his fallen trainer. An uncaring, as well as annoyed 'hoot' came from the pokemon, and Tomonari sat up. He looked over at the girl and Vulpix, and said, "Oh.......er, did I hurt you two? I'm sorry..."

Cyprus blushed as the boy looked up at her, and quickly shook her head.
"No harm done. Cinder and I were well out of the way." She stood up and helped the boy to his feet, the Vulpix watching her from the seat they'd shared quietly as she normally did. She didn't like movement unless she had to.
She looked at him curiously, not aware if she was staring. She wondered if he really was that different from her. The red head secretly considered how he looked. His face wasn't that different from other boys she'd known. She assumed he was younger than her.
He seemed kind of backward, as if he wasn't familiar with people either. She smiled to herself.
"Are YOU hurt?" She asked, grinning.

For some reason, Tomonari blushed when the girl did as well. It was probably just a random instinct that made him do so. He accepted the girl's help, and stood on his two feet. "Th-thank you.", was all he could get out of his mouth. He was being timid like he usually was, especially since he didn't know this girl at all. Was this teenager really a gym leader's son?! It didn't seem like it, but that never did bother Tomonari. Well, he might have thought about it once or twice.
Dante simply hopped onto one of the empty chairs, and then layed on his side, watching his trainer. A simple 'hoot' came out of the Hoothoot, as if saying to the Vulpix next to him, "Clumsy fellow isn't he?"
Tomonari listened to the girl some more, and replied, "No, I'm fine too..." It was then that he changed his attention to Cinder. Out of some curiousity, the teenager asked, "Can.......can I pet your Vulpix?"

For some reason, Cyprus fellt her chest swell with happiness and pride. He was interested in her pokemon. Not just interested, but maybe even liked her a little.
Maybe there were hope for some humans after all. Casting a side glance at the Hoothoot she wondered for a moment if he was wild... poor guy. She'd expect some pokemon wouldn't like to be messed with; even less to have been captured. Her heart went out to the little thing, wondering if that were the case.
Turning back to the boy she smiled and nodded. "If she'll let you, it's fine by me." Sliding her emerald gaze over to Cinder, she tilted her head. "What do you think, Cinder?"
The Vulpix let out a yawn and proceeded to scratch behind her left ear.
"I think she means she doesn't mind one way or the other." Cyprus giggled. She looked over at the Hoothoot again. "...do you think he'd mind if I pet him?" she asked quietly, wondering if captured pokemon held distrust for all humans or just their trainers.
She blinked suddenly and blushed again. scratching the back of her head she turned to the boy. "Oh... my name is Cyprus, by the way..." She realized she'd nearly completely forgotten her manners.
Suddenly one of the vid-phones over on the other wall started to ring. Someone returning a call, possilby, but Cyprus didn't know what the sound was and she jumped half a mile.
She stood, tense, looking at the phone as if it were going to explode. When someone answered she sighed, clutching her chest. "...what a strange place..." She turned and looked at the boy. "Do all machines make such loud, crazy noises?"

He was interested in pokemon in general, so it was really just his personality that made him interested in Cinder. For some reason, this girl reminded him of his friend Misha, though for now he ignored thoughts of her. Tomonari would work on finding Misha once he reached Goldenrod, which would be a long while.
Dante couldn't care less about being in a pokeball, and it was more of the thought that the Hoothoot himself was braver than his own trainer. Well, he made a thought in the back of his mind to make Tomonar into a man one of these days, if he could.
Tomonari listened to the girl's response, and nodded. When asked about petting Dante, the teenager replied, "I guess it's fine if you pet my Hoothoot. His name's Dante by the way. Though I really don't know much about him yet, since I just met him last night." After being told what her name was, Tomonari jumped a little at that, "My name's Tomonari. Yeah, I kinda forgot to introduce myself.... I'm sorry." He seemed to have forgotten his manners too, but he was naive and timid in nature anyways.
He watched as the girl jumped at the phone ringing out of nowhere. Must have surprised her, since it did sort of come out of nowhere. Tomonari became confused when Cyprus asked if all machines made loud, crazy noises. He was unsure of what to say, but tried his best, "Er, it depends on the machine, I guess. I would ask why it surprised you, but that's probably none of my business."

Cyprus looked at him, studying him for a moment. What an interesting choice of words... "met" his Dante? ...Maybe it would be ok... maybe this guy was the difference she'd hoped for... the difference from regular people. Her naivete flared happily as she nodded to herself.
"Well... normally I would agree... but since you're the first person I've really met outside the complex and you seem to like Pokemon, I guess it would be ok to tell you."
Cyprus reached over and gently scratched the Hoothoot's head. "I come from a complex that's far away from here. I won't bore you with the details, but it's very backwater. We don't have many electric appliances. We don't need them. Everyone who we talk to lives in the complex. They don't allow their kids to become pokemon trainers there, so I'm just starting out."
She sighed watching some of the other trainers. "...kinda feels like starting late with a bad leg in a sprinting race... I'm so far behind... and have no attack plan..." she whispered whistfully.
Cyprus turned her emerald eyes back to Tomonari. "That's not to say I don't know where I am." She said confidently, if not defensively. "...I just... don't know where I'm going..." the girl admitted softly, her eyes down cast as she revealed her insecurity.
She scratched Hoothoot's wings. "I'm sorry... you probably didn't want to hear all of that..." She tucked a curly strand behind her ear. "...I guess I just blurt things out..." Truth was, she hadn't met anyone yet who seemed to care... and she wasn't used to not being able to talk to anyone at all, even if she didn't trust them enough to tell them everything...
She could say somethings. It's not like he knew where she was from. She'd not given away any specific details... just talked with someone like she'd wished she could since she found out being a trainer was forbidden.

Tomonari looked up a bit when she began to talk to him again. He didn't want to be nosy, and felt a little awkward just letting her tell him things like this. But then again, it was out of Cyprus's own will, so Tomonari had no control over that. Whatever the case, he would still listen, as he wasn't one to be rude on purpose. So, he reached over, and gently scratched Cinder's back, as if he was soothing her for some reason or another.
Dante let out a lazy 'hoot' when the girl scratched his head a bit. What did she think she was doing? Well, it did feel kind of nice, so the Hoothoot just let it be. He remained in his lazy side position, half paying attention to Cyprus talking. However, when she scratched underneath his wing, Dante made a chirpy noise in joy. Oh yeah, she definately hit the spot!
The teenage boy looked at Cyprus for a few moments, and thought about what she told him. He could slightly have something in common with her, as he never did leave Cianwood. But that was only because his parents were busy, as well as neither him or his brother having the means to leave in the first place. "It's fine...", Tomonari said in response to her last words. He sat down in an empty chair, not the one Cyprus originally sat on, and continued to gently pet the Vulpix. He somewhat calmed down, and continued, "I mess up my words too sometimes, so it's not strange to me. Actually, I just started being a trainer yesterday."
Could he tell her that he was a gym leader's son? But that was pushed back into his mind, as another thought came to him. It seemed kind of random, but Tomonari went along with it, "Even though I'm still a beginner, there's something that's been going through my mind. I've started to think that some of the best trainers never worried about finding a way to increase a pokemon's power or looking for a stone of some sort to evolve them. I don't know, it's still a fuzzy thought."

Cyprus blinked at him in surprise. "...didn't use..." She smiled and nodded as if confirming something to herself.
"That's a thought I've had too. I think the best way to live with Pokemon is to live WITH them... not over them. The best trainers would be those who empathize and work with their pokemon."
She giggled as Hoothoot chirped happily about being scratched and continued scratching as she spoke.
"...that's the whole reason I wanted to become a pokemon trainer. I want to stand on the Pokemon's side in this... I've seen some horrible things in my forest home... I think it's time for the world to change." She grinned up at him, suddenly she heard a rumbling.
She wasn't sure if it was her stomach or his but she blushed. "...wanna get something to eat?"

He looked up at her as Cyprus agreed with him on that thought. So that was why she became a pokemon trainer then? For some reason, a chuckle came from Tomonari, and he smiled a bit more. He was becoming comfortable around this girl, which was oddly fast. Maybe Cyprus just had that effect on people? He wouldn't know for a while probably, but then again, Tomonari was raised to appreciate the things around him. The teenager nodded, and then said, "Yeah, I mean, maybe it's not just the pokemon that fight after all. Hmm, you know, maybe it would be better to start small, I don't know."
It was his stomach that was growling, and Tomonari had a 'it's my fault' look on his face. "I think some food might help a lot. I was going to go check in with my parents, but that could wait, I guess.", he said. He stood up, and gently pet Cinder's head a little before stopping. Tomonari looked back at Cyprus, and thought for a moment. After he did so, he nodded, but lowered his voice a bit, "Hey..I know this is sudden but, can you, erm, keep a secret?"

Cyprus' eyes blinked widely. Tell her a secret? She smiled brightly.
"Of course I can." She nodded. "What kind of secret?" She looked like a little kid on the playground, watching with facinated eyes.
She'd never really had a secret before. Not one anyone told to her. It had never been necessary for the other children to keep secrets; at least not ones they'd feel comfortable telling Cyprus.
The red head leaned in closely. "Is it a good secret?"

Tomonari jumped a little when Cyprus got closer to him a little. He did deserve it, but he was still jumpy with things. Well, the teenager might as well get used to it, especially if he ends up traveling with Cyprus. It took the boy a while to think, and decided to take it slowly. Nodding, Tomonari looked at Cyprus and whispered, "Okay, I'm not really ashamed of this secret, but I'm just nervous about saying it. Well I did bring it upon myself, so I might as well go along with it. Are you ready?" The teenager breathed about once or twice, trying to get himself to say it. The question came back into his mind- was it really okay to tell her that his father was a gym leader? Better late than never to find out.
Nodding once more, Tomonari looked at Cyprus. He then continued, "My dad, well, h-he's a gym leader in this region. I-I hope you don't think of me any differently because of that. I mean, I don't want to be thought of as a kid that gets everything he wants and is really stuck up and stuff because of that. Heh, my older brother and I don't really get away with much." He was somewhat joking around on that last sentence, but he didn't want to seem like a sad puppy the entire time. However, Dante let out a loud, "HOOTHOOT!", with a tone that pretty much declared, "FINALLY! You actually have some backbone, mate!"

Cyprus took a moment to carefully digest what she'd been told to make sure she understood. This boy was the son of a gymleader... one of the people who she had set out to change. She bit her lip.
This might be harder than she thought... Her eyes looked troubled as she digested this boy's manner and his reluctance to tell her about his family ties. Maybe they weren't so different after all... Her and this boy... neither of them were willing to openly admit their bloodlines... and neither of them were particularly at ease with people...
She looked back up at him and flashed a calm, knowing smile; a rarity for her.
"You are afraid of what people think of you because of your family. I know how that feels. Only, rather backwards... I'm afraid of what my family thinks of me because of other people..." she turned and looked out the window again.
She turned and smiled brightly at him, not willing to let this stop her mission... so what if she had no plan of attack?! She had time to figure one out!
"Now about that food... Don't they serve trainers staying here for free? Or is it just a reduced price?"

The room held a quiet buzz of conversation, the topics varying. "My Raichu sure took a beating against that Quilava." "You should have seen the size of this Pokemon- no, I swear it was this big!" "Where are you heading? I'm making my way to..." And so on. Normally the girl would have been mingle with the many people in the room; swapping stories, tips, et cetera. But currently she was sprawled out on a couch, head propped against the armrest. The hood of her grey sweater was pulled up, shading her closed eyes. Though she wasn't asleep she gave off the impression that she was; and so no one bothered her.
Jun was laying on the floor in front of the couch, head placed on the floor between his two front paws as he watched the people and Pokemon around him. He'd watch a particular person for a moment, and move onto the next once he lost interest in them. Currently though his attention was focused on two individuals and their Pokemon; a Vulpix and a Hoothoot. So far he'd decided the boy was quite clumsy, much like Molly, and the girl, well, he'd yet to decide anything upon her. Though she need seem a tad skittish, considering how she'd jumped at the sound of the phone. Humans were so silly sometimes.
Tilting her head Molly glanced down at her Growlithe for a moment before turning her attention to the rest of the room. Pursing her lips she moved her head so that she was staring up at the ceiling, and began boredly counting the specks above her. One. Two. Three. Four.
"Miss West?"
"Huh?" Molly murmured upon hearing her last name and quickly sat up, and Jun responded by pulling himself to his feet at her sudden movement. Briefly her green gaze dashed around the room, trying to find the source which had called her, when she realized it was Nurse Joy. An easy smile fell across her face, lighting up her features instantly. After getting up off the couch the girl glanced down at Jun, "I'll be right back," she assured him and snatched her backpack before heading over to the woman.
"Your Pokemon is good as new," the woman said happily and handed Molly the Pokeball, which she then reattached to her belt. She'd only had one Pokemon who'd been in need of a bit of treatment, since she hadn't been battling very much once she'd reached the Johto Region. That would be changing though, this journey had just begun, and was far from being over. "Thank you Nurse Joy," she told her gratefully.
Jun watched as Molly went to retrieve the Pokeball, and then returned his attention back to the pair he'd been watching before. For whatever reason he found the two rather interesting, perhaps he ought to get a closer look? Without a second thought on the matter Jun slowly padded over to where Tomonari and Cyprus were conversing. He gave a soft bark, as if to greet them and the two Pokemon before sitting down on his haunches and cocking his head to the side slightly as he stared up at them.
After exchanging a few pleasantries with the nurse Molly turned to head back to Jun when she noticed he wasn't there. A from seized her face and her brows furrowed, but then she heard the bark; his bark. She could pick it out anywhere; it was the same bark she'd been listening to for the last six years. Turning, she spotted Jun sitting by two trainers and their Pokemon, which surprised her a bit. This seemed more like something Kisan would do rather than Jun, but Pokemon could be unpredictable at times.
Her smile returned now that she wasn't wondering where the dog-like Pokemon had wandered off to, and she made her way over to the small group. "It depends on the place, some'll serve trainers for free, while others won't." She answered, having heard the girl's question a moment before. As she reached the ground she crouched down next to Jun and rubbed the top of his head tenderly, and in return the Pokemon leaned closer and gave her a slobbery lick on the cheek. A soft laugh seeped from her lips before forming a grin, and she removed her hand from the top of his head to wipe her cheek as she stood back up to her petite height. "Hi, I'm Molly." She said, offering the two of them a friendly smile.
She knew that they'd probably assume she was quite young, and quite inexperienced. More often than not people assumed she'd just recently obtained her Pokemon; which was of course a lie. These assumptions were based off her looks; her emerald eyes were bright and filled with child-like curiosity, her facial features soft and portraying a young innocence, and the fact that she was the height of a fifth grader didn't help either.

Tomonari became quiet as he waited for Cyprus to answer, and looked away a little bit. If he was caught by some random reporter about the whole 'gym leader's son' business, the teenager would most likely be bombarded by questions. None of which he would respond to of course, since he'd be too scared to actually answer. If his older brother was with him if that happened, they could easily get away. However, Tomonari didn't want to think about Laus punching a reporter and/or camera man in the fact. That wouldn't turn out too well.
In any case, he listened to the girl's response. He let out a curious, "Huh?", as he listened in. Maybe it didn't matter if someone was a gym leader's kid or some big CEO's child. No matter what the origins of someone are, he or she will still be a kid. Cyprus's words made Tomonari feel as if he could actually pull of being a darn good trainer! Nodding, the teenager let out a nice smile, and replied, "Yeah, I guess you're right. Besides, maybe I'm just too worried about it."
It was cut short however, when a Growlithe had come up to them. Tomonari looked down with a confused look, and examined the puppy pokemon a little. "Huh? Is this your pokemon, Cyprus?", he asked, but that question was soon answered. A girl had apparently caught up to them, and the Growlithe seemed to have been the new girl's pokemon. He listened to the answer to Cyprus's question, and apparently the girl's name was Molly.
Tomonari didn't think about the girl's features, and said, "O-oh, hi. My name's Tomonari." He was going to say more, but then he remembered something. It was about time that he called home to check in. Turning to Cyprus, Tomonari said, "Oh hey, I got to call home really quick on one of those video phones. If you want, you can meet either my mom or dad. I don't know which though, since I don't who will answer."
