Being somewhat naive, Tomonari decided to start walking the route at night, despite his lack of training experience. He had an unsure look on his face as he walked, and would scan the road ahead of him from time to time. Was this the best choice to make? He just started his own journey, and just obtained his first pokemon, who was walking next to him. It seemed a bit odd to nickname this Mareep as Iris, but it wasn't as if other trainers didn't give his or her pokemon some weird nickname. Tomonari sighed a little, and looked ahead of him once more. No pokemon had crossed them so far, which was a good thing. He wasn't exactly bonded that much with Iris, as that would probably be a while until the teenager got used to her.
Iris held her head up high, showing off her beautiful, yellow coat. Luckily, as she was an electric type pokemon, the glow from her tail lit their path, so the two wouldn't walk so blindly. Of course, she definately didn't want to stain her coat that she worked hard to grow. A confident 'baa' of sorts came from her, wanting her trainer to look at her coat. Tomonari looked down at Iris, and asked, "Huh? What is it?" The Mareep nodded her head over to her coat, and the teenager simply nodded. "Oh, your coat. It's nice, I guess?", he said, somewhat confused as to what to say. Iris shook her head in response. Did her new trainer not understand the beauty that is her coat?! That might have given her a heart attack! But then again, he did just start, so as long as Tomonari learned to pay attention to her, Iris was fine.
It wouldn't be too long before they reached Cherrygrove, however, it was getting late. Well it was a good run with nothing bad happening so far, but a good night's rest was probably the bes thing to do. So, Tomonari returned Iris to her pokemon, rather hesitantly, and set up camp for himself. He unfolded his sleeping bag, and took off his shoes before sliding right on in. His journey would continue in the morning, and who knows? Maybe something interesting would happen.
